This collection of writings from Giuseppe Prezzolini is about the Italians who migrated to North America. Compiled here, they contain observations that differ from other, more conventional approaches and analyses. Most of those who have come to know and have written about these migrants and their descendants have been impressed by their economic success. While a large portion have triumphed over the trials of migration, they have done so at the cost of becoming mutilated in language and, therefore, in spirit. The Transplants attempts to trace this journey.
